SOME ASPECTS OF BIOLOGY OF MYSTUS VITTATUS (BLOCH 1794) FROM THE MOURI RIVER, KHULNA, BANGLADESH

Length–weight relationship, condition factor (K), relative (Kn), fecundity and egg diameter of Mystus vittatus (Bloch, 1794) were estimated from 120 individuals collected the Mouri river Khulna district, Bangladesh during 7th August to 25th October 2006. The total length (LT) ranged 7.2 cm (body weight (W) 6.9 g) 13.4 (W=24.2 for male 12.1 (W=14.39 13.6 (W=23.29 female. logarithmic relationship LT-W LS-W strongly positive as , . mean K Kn varied 7.24 18.49 0.44 25.81 respectively. LT-K was not statistically significant (,) whereas that LT-Kn produced negative correlation (,). bilobed gonad (WG) 1.41±0.738 g where left lobe 0.718±0.375 right 0.697 ± 0.367 g. highest 8.75 µm in between 13.5 13.9 LT lowest 8.15 13.0 13.4. 8.27 7.83 µm.
